It is essential that you and your consultant share a fundamental understanding of what is important to you now and where you want to be in the future. It will form the basis of the next step, which is to formulate what your Life Plan should look like.
Your Life Plan should ideally include clear and realistic goals. For example, it could be something like “save enough by age 30 to make a down payment on a house”, or “build an investment portfolio that pays good dividends to fund my retirement”.

With your goals defined, your consultant is now ready to recommend a suite of solutions that can bring you closer to financial success.
For example, if you are a business owner, you should consider solutions that can prevent your business risks from disrupting your Life Plan. If you are the only child, you may decide to make provisions for your dependents in your estate plan. Looking forward to an early retirement? You will need to grow your nest egg with passive income and a greater amount of savings. Divorce and remarriage are major life changes that require a more detailed and tailored approach to your legacy planning – a templated Will may not cover enough ground.
