Is the HDB flat consider part of your estate that must be written in your will to ensure the specific intended beneficiary gets it?

    1. Stephen Chew says:

      Hi Tin Wee Yuen,

There are three ways in which HDB property can be owned:

      1. Single Owner: This will form part of your estate and should be included in your Will.

      2. Joint Tenancy: In most cases, the surviving owner will inherit the estate. However, it may not form part of your estate. As a good practice we strongly suggest to include your HDB property in your Will to make known your intention to leave it to the surviving joint owner.

      3. Tenancy In Common: Your HDB flat will form part of your estate and you should include in your Will how you intend to distribute your share of the property.
