In 1987 Stephen Chew completed his ACCA at the age of 21. In the same year he started lecturing at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS) in Management Accounting, Advanced Accounting and Singapore Taxation. To date, Stephen has trained more than 15,000 people on accounting and taxation related topics.

As a tax practitioner, Stephen has worked as a tax consultant in both international auditing firms and MNCs.

As an author, Stephen has written four books two of which were mainly marketed to students preparing for the professional accountancy examinations.  The other two books "Taxation Relevant to Insurance Practitioners" and "Estate Planning Relevant to Financial Advisors" were well received by the insurance industry.  He is presently writing another series of practice guides for Financial Consultants

Stephen has an illustrious career as Financial Services District Director with AIA and achieved accreditations as Top New Supervisor, Top Supervisor, Top New Manager and Member of the President's Round Table.  He has spoken in many insurance seminars including Life Underwriters Technical Seminars and Financial Planning Seminars organized by the Singapore College of Insurance (SCI) and also at the 2003 Asia Pacific Life Insurance Congress. To date, Stephen has shared his experiences with more than 30,000 Life Insurance Practitioners.

He is the first person in AIA Singapore to be given the privilege of using the business insurance logo in his name card for his outstanding performance in business insurance sales and training.  He helped AIA Singapore to develop the training materials, marketing and the business insurance fact find documentation.

He left AIA in late 2009 and joined Manulife as Branch Director in early 2010.
